Georgios Kolliarakis
Security Policy Expert

Georgios Kolliarakis is a Security and Defence Policy Experpert working as Advisor for Research Strategy with the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). He also serves as the Principal Investigator in the EU-funded “Mediterranean Practitioners’ Network Capacity Building for Effective Response to Emerging Security Challenges” (MEDEA, 2018-2023).

He has a track record of more than 15 years in public policy analysis. Georgios Kolliarakis has worked with the Goethe University Frankfurt (2009-2018) and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (2005-2009) where he conducted research on strategic and organizational aspects of security policy. He has led a series of pilot interdisciplinary research projects on European security, and advises national ministries and international bodies including various UN agencies, the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and the OECD on issues of anticipatory security governance and transfer of evidence to policy.

Dr. Georgios Kolliarakis ist Experte für Sicherheits- und Verteidigungspolitik und arbeitet bei der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik (DGAP) als Berater für Forschungsstrategie. Außerdem ist er Principal Investigator im von der EU geförderten „Mediterranean Practitioners’ Network Capacity Building for Effective Response to Emerging Security Challenges“ (MEDEA, 2018-2023).

Georgios hat mehr als 15 Jahre Erfahrung in Politikanalyse auf dem Feld der Sicherheitspolitik. Davor hat er an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main (2009-2018) und an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (2005-2009) gearbeitet, wo er strategische und organisatorische Aspekte der Sicherheitspolitik erforschte. Er hat eine Reihe von interdisziplinären Pilotprojekten zur Europäischen Sicherheit geleitet und berät nationale Ministerien und internationale Gremien wie z.B. verschiedene UN-Agenturen, die Europäische Kommission, den Europarat und die OECD in Fragen der antizipativen Sicherheits-Governance und des wissenschaftlichen Evidenztransfers an die Politik.
