Global Diplomacy Lab: Creating a Digital Agenda for Peace and Sustainable Development

Short thesis

The session will address the challenges of implementing the 2030 Agenda in a diffuse digital world through a life-size board game in which participants will be coming to terms with the transformative nature of digitalisation and its impact on peace processes.

Description

What happens if you build a kaleidoscope of nearly 200 experienced diplomats, creative professionals, academics and global activists from over 65 countries? The Global Diplomacy Lab (GDL) is a participatory, member-driven and inclusive platform seeking innovative diplomatic solutions that go beyond traditional politics. Under the patronage of Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and with the support of five leading partners from both the private and public sector, GDL members work all over the world on self-initiated, collaborative projects involving a range of complex and diverse topics. By connecting unusual partners and fostering strategic dialogue among different networks, the GDL experiments with new ideas, transfers them to strategies and thus develops impact-oriented responses for global policy challenges.
